About me:
Lennart Borkenstein, born in Bochum in 1995, is a contemporary artist who specialises in figurative painting and drawing. His works include portraits, figurative representations and abstract compositions that combine stylistic elements and themes from different eras of painting and are expressed in newly interpreted, profound works of art.
Borkenstein's figurative works are characterised by fascinating atmospheres and the aesthetics of past centuries, while at the same time bearing the signature of modern painting. His depictions of human faces, myths and animal motifs captivate with expressive, sometimes gloomy atmospheres, which are contrasted by strong colour dynamics. The abstract series of paintings are powerful, dynamic and full of energy. The artist prefers to work with acrylic paint on canvas as well as graphite and charcoal on paper.
As an autodidact, Lennart Borkenstein taught himself to draw and paint in his youth. Since then, he has continued his education and studied the techniques of the old masters and contemporary artists in order to perfect his craft. His passion to communicate emotion, dynamism and depth in his paintings is his artistic motivation.
Borkenstein received a Certificate of Merit at the Luxembourg Art Prize in 2022 and 2023 for his artistic achievements.
Since January 2023, he has been a member of Badischer Kunstverein e.V., the second oldest art association in Germany and an institution that has been dedicated to promoting contemporary art since 1818.
Borkenstein's artistic approach is usually impulsive and intuitive. He creates dynamic moods and pictorial compositions, while remaining calm and focussed in the details. His work invites viewers to immerse themselves in deeper emotional and aesthetic dimensions and to experience the diversity of human experience through art.
